So how about we talk about... Nurseries!
Yes, because besides being sad and down feeling today, I've got baby room on the brain. -And food, but we're handling that with cream cheese and Ritz crackers right now-
We found out that we're happily expecting a bouncing (really feels like he's in there bouncing) baby boy in February and the state of the nursery?? In my mind. Oh, there is a room designated for Peanut. It however is currently occupied by randomness of storage from garden supplies, sheetrock, christmas decor, and a box of books... I hope to nag Hubs enough to getting that stuff out this weekend ;)
Lets see if I can give a good depiction of the color scheme for starters... Inspired by -wait for it- a crankbait bass fishing lure in the color of Chartreuse Sexy Shad.
_________________________ bottom. The gray will be incorporated as an accent _________________________ color in the room. Most likely the curtains. We had a hard time finding bedding that we liked for this scheme, which is a modern fishing type theme that only the dear Hubs could come up with, but we finally decided that this beautiful gray chevron bedding did the gray on the sexy shad justice
Now the fish theme gets added, subtly. I will draw 3 7x7 canvas with a crankbait, bass, and a rod and reel and Madre (meet my mom) will paint them. These will go above the changing table. On the wall above the bed I'm thinking an ole cane fishing pole. The rest of the room accessories will have to come to me as I find and see them, much like most of the decor in Bug's room. So you see, a cute color scheme with subtle fishing accesories. Cute and simple, not super baby so I won't be redecorating in a few short years.
Got time for Bug's room??? I'd love to share with you my ideas! Only this time you get real life pictures and I won't have to paint it for you lol.

Please excuse the mess. And the lack of curtains. I will be getting some dark brown room darkening curtains eventually. The color scheme is a peachy pink, mint green, brown and white. With cowgirl accessories and a paisley Pam's Creations bedding set.
I do all this on the cheap too! The crib is a Graco cherry wood convertible crib to college that I got off craigslist for $50! The dresser and bookshelf were mine growing up. The changing table was $7 at a yard sale along with $0.50 for the round table in the corner with a half price hobby lobby lamp $25 next to a rocker that my Nana (meet dad's mom) gave me. The lil rocking horse was also mine growing up, mom's dad made it. and then the lil accessories I got were all on some kind of sale because Hobby Lobby is amazing! Oh and they also had 7 pack of those canvases on sale for $14.99 I think... -it's been a while-
For Peanut's room, I'm trying to use my blessed bargain skills again. The crib and changing table I bought from a guy I used to work with for $60. The glider I got this week at a local Kid's Market for $50. The dresser was mine and then my brother's growing up, and Michael's has the canvases on sale this week so I'll be getting some more. The crib mattress we are inheriting from Lil' Man (meet my Brother In Law, who is 5 months older than Bug) since he does not use it.
So there you go! great nursery decorating tips!
1. Don't be afraid to not use a "baby-ish" theme. This can often make things more costly, simply because they're baby, and your little one will out grow it quickly.
2. Simple and subtle also helps cost wise. Play off your color scheme by mixing and matching pieces in that scheme and it will add dimension to the decor. Then you can add pieces here and there that you find.
3. Yard sales and thrift stores and great sales!!! You can find really unique decor items for really cheap that will go great with your room and add a great personality! Who doesn't like bargain shopping and finding great deals!
4. One step at a time. Get the room painted and the initial furniture set up. Chances are baby won't be spending much time in that room for a few months and though Bug sleeps in hers, she rarely plays in there or spends time in there otherwise. So take your time with it. We're still working on her room. Though I think I'm done with the cute accesories or I might go overboard, I still haven't found the "right" curtains, and would like to add a cute mirror on the wall next to her crib -right outside her closet- This gives you a break from over stressing getting it all done and gives you time to find bargains.
Happy Decorating!!!
